The brief

Create a print ad where you are the product.

The challenge was to communicate who I am creatively — not simply what I can do, but how I observe, think, collect and turn experiences into ideas.

The insight

I have always been the person who remembers everything.

  • Places.
  • Images.
  • Sounds.
  • Objects.
  • Dates.
  • Details.

Within every community I have been part of, including my family, I have always been the person who remembers moments and keeps an archive of them.

That observation became the starting point for the concept.

The idea

I remember everything.
I know what to do with it.

Instead of presenting myself through a traditional portfolio-style list of skills, I presented myself as an archive.

ARCHIVE No. 001 became a visual representation of the way I collect the world around me — and, more importantly, what I do with what I collect.

The things I notice don't simply stay as memories. They become references, connections, concepts and eventually visual ideas.

ARCHIVE No. 001 — Concept / Background

“I REMEMBER EVERYTHING. I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.” is a personal archive built around the way I observe and collect the world. The idea comes from treating everyday experiences — places, images, sounds, objects, dates and small details — not as separate memories, but as raw material for creative work.

ARCHIVE No. 001 gives the project the feeling of a first entry in an ongoing personal collection. The archive is not a literal storage of photographs; it represents a visual memory system where things I encounter remain available to be revisited, connected and transformed into new ideas. This connects directly to the statement “Nothing I see is ever really lost.”

The main photograph is important because it is a real fragment of my own archive. It was taken by me in Koserow, Germany, in 2019, on an iPhone, photographed through a film-camera lens. The imperfect focus, grain, light and framing make it feel like a memory rather than a polished photograph, which reinforces the idea of preserving moments as they were experienced.

The dark, film-like frame around the photograph references analog photography, memory and archival material. The grain and imperfections are intentional: they make the image feel collected and remembered rather than digitally perfect.

The headline comes from something very personal. Within every community I have been part of, including my family, I have always been the person who remembers everything and keeps an archive of moments. This became the starting point for “I REMEMBER EVERYTHING. I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.” It describes both my ability to retain visual memories and my instinct to turn those memories into something creative.

The final statement, “ART DIRECTION IS WHERE I PUT IT ALL TOGETHER,” is the conclusion of the concept. It explains what happens to all these collected fragments: they become a visual language, a concept and eventually a complete creative direction.

So the poster is ultimately less about one photograph and more about my way of thinking — collecting what I see, remembering it, finding connections between seemingly unrelated things, and turning those fragments into visual ideas and art direction. This also aligns with the brief's emphasis on turning the creative work back toward the creator rather than presenting only a conventional product concept.

Art direction is where
I put it all together.
